(WTNH) — Judy and Joy are identical twins who grew up in an Italian family in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They have always been together, they finish each others sentences, they think alike, you name it. To watch them together is to see two people, but they are “one” in so many ways.

Both are moms and Joy is a grandmother now, too. They can cook up a storm; you may have seen them in the state on various local TV channels, being their entertaining selves. Lots of fun and games until in 2012, Judy was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer.

“It sounds so cliche, a lot of people ask me, but I really do stop and smell the roses now. I enjoy everything so much more, I really do. I mean, I wake up in the morning and my coffee is just so delicious,” said Judy.

“I enjoy the small things with her. I try to be more patient with her, and everything, and everybody. During that time, that we had to step back because she, of course, lost her hair, we didn’t do any appearances,” said Joy.

Judy admits she felt a lump, and kept telling her family she was going to go have it check, but waited. It had been a year and a half between mammograms. As we head into October and Breast Cancer Awareness month, don’t wait, get that mammogram.
