The former darling of Old Hollywood, Shirley Temple, once owned a blue diamond ring. Her father bought it for her in 1940 to celebrate her 12th birthday and the premiere of her film “The Blue Bird.” According to People Magazine that movie netted her $7,210. In those times that would have been about $121,810 today. The 9-54 carat, cushion-cut gem is expected to sell at auction on March 19th from between $25 and $35-million dollars. The ring is part of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels Auction which will take place this weekend in New York City.
