(WTNH)–All of us see flashing lights on all kinds of vehicles every day. Chances are they were made by Whelen Engineering based in Chester. The company estimates that 85 percent of vehicles that have flashing lights are theirs.

In 1952, George Washington Whelen developed a rotating aircraft anti-collision beacon in his garage in Deep River. Now, 64 years later, the rest is history. George Whelen V is now President and CEO, and he’s helping to innovate the company into the future.

Along the way, the company got into NASCAR Racing, too.
