(WTNH)–On this edition of “Nyberg,” two former Quinnipiac University film students who have just released their feature film documentary join the program.
It took them four years to shoot the film in Australia. It started as a senior project at Quinnipiac. They shot 600 hours of footage and maxed out multiple credit cards to get the film made. It was seen all over Australia, making a big impact on those who saw it.
24-year-olds Taylor Montemarano and Lorenzo DeCampos’ film called “You and Me” is already No. 5 on YouTube for documentaries.
“You have a young man in a wheelchair because he was in a car accident when he was 20 years old, and you have a young woman who is running away from home because she feels secluded, and they meed each other at the lowest of their lives, and they bring each other up,” said DeCampos. “Now they’re married, he’s learned to walk and she’s become a pop singer.”
“I asked Lorenzo and a few of my friends if they wanted to go to Australia and film our senior film there, and Lorenzo said ‘absolutely,’ but my professors were like, ‘absolutely not,'” Montemarano said. “They said that we would never raise enough money and we wouldn’t have enough time, and there wouldn’t be enough content to put together enough for a short, 15-minute film. Regardless of what our professors said, Lorenzo and I said, well, Barney was told that he would never walk again, but he’s not taking no for an answer and so neither should we.”

The next stop for the film-making duo is Los Angeles. They now have plans to make films for wide release. Look for them in the future at a movie theater near you.
