My husband, Dr. Mark Mamula, a Professor of Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine, has canine cancer trials underway as we speak in Norwalk, Connecticut. He has paired with Dr. Gerald Post at the Veterinary Cancer CenterBecause the immune systems of dogs are so similar to humans, the hunch here is, if this works in dogs it will work in humans. Since this started about one month ago calls are coming into the center from all over the country to get dogs enrolled. I have never seen so much love behind a research endeavor. Our family lost our yellow lab, Savannah Jane, to cancer and that’s what started the ball rolling for my husband. So if you want to hear more about what is going on, you can go to this upcoming talk at Housatonic Community College. If you have a dog that has been diagnosed with cancer reach out to Dr. Post at the center and see if your pet qualifies for the trials. So far this is looking very promising. If this works, human trials will get underway ASAP. You can help them help others.
