(WTNH) — If you see a gap, fill it.
That’s what Sarah Beach of Wilton has done.
Beach is publishing a magazine called, Strong. It’s a publication for middle-school aged girls which she says doesn’t exist anywhere.
The magazine is meant to empower young women and arm them with all kinds of articles that can help them in all aspects of life and inspire them too.
“I think that Strong to me represents girls having the confidence to be themselves and I just think young girls growing up today, they don’t see that because they’re at a time in their lives where they’e trying to work out who they really are,” explained Beach. “They just see, you know, the image they have of how a woman should be, who they should be. We should be interested in fashion, we should be interested in celebrities, we should care about body image, and all these things are all important to kids, but there’s so much more than that. So it was more that I wanted for them to see other girls like them and see that it was okay to be like them and to see women who are doing inspirational things and working in fields that are perhaps not stereo-typically female so that they can see that it’s okay to do those things too.”
Inside the magazine, you’ll find stories about cooking, how to patch a bike tire, how to help others, what’s going on in the world, books to read, technology, and on and on.
