NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Starting this April 1, you will be able to tour New Haven on a bike with a whole group of people folks all peddling together on the “Elm City Party Bike.”

Two guys, who grew up on the same street in New Haven, came together and because of their love for the city, decided to show it off in a new way. Other communities across the country have embraced this idea and it has gone gangbusters. The hope is that it will be wildly popular here, too.

“It’s a two hour excursion where you get to hop around town, checkout some restaurants, check out some bars and really sight see. The driver and the guides on the bike help you understand the city’s history, and culture and fun and they’re there to kind of just be your social emcee if you will,” said Colin Caplan.

This will be the first such bike in New England.

“So there’s six seats on either side and then there is a bench seat in the back that has three people, that can fit three of the six seats on either side, five of them pedal, so there’s ten people total that’s pedaling the bike. There’s also an electric helper motor so that if it gets a little too heavy, they can kick it, they can kick that on just a little bit,” said Christian Bruckhart.

The bike will be debuted with its sound system during next year’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and then will go on line on April 1. For more information, click here.
